Cupcake Challenge #3: Green Goodies

Let me tell you – Casey and I made some fatal errors in our first 2 cupcake spots. First, at Sara Sara, we got a glass of milk. Then, at Cuppies and Joe, we each got a coffee. Added to the fact that we were full on cupcakes already we were in a bad way by the time we got to Green Goodies in Classen Curve. So. Full.

We ended up getting the Banana Pudding cupcake. It’s a banana cake with vanilla buttercream frosting and a Nilla Wafer. Nilla Wafers make me weak in the knees, so I’m all for it. I think the issue with fruit-based cupcakes (especially banana) is that the cake can get really spongy. I was looking for more of a banana bread consistency, and it was a little springier than I was ready for. The flavor was pretty subtle. Casey’s not a big icing person or a fruit-in-food person, so this one didn’t win him over, either.

Now, please don’t think I’m giving this spot a bad wrap. I think we just ordered the wrong cupcake for our tastes. I’ve had the Salted Caramel and the Hostess Cupcake, and both will knock your socks off! Also, this is THE place to go if you’re vegan or if you’re allergic to Gluten. They have most of their flavors available in either vegan or gluten-free options!

They accept the Keep It Local card. You can find their full menu here. Also, I don’t know who did their website, but it’s gorgeous!
