You all probably remember my disdain for exercise. And then you probably remember my desire to break the cycle of not exercising. Yeah. None of those plans worked out. I’ve determined that my issue isn’t necessarily that I’m lazy, it’s just that I don’t feel like I have an ending date to get to – a finish line, if you will. Apparently my impending wedding (that is in a short 2 1/2 months) isn’t goal enough. Casey will likely still marry me even if I look like a linebacker coming down the aisle.
And then I heard about the Hot Mamas Run. As if by fate, this awesome run is going to be on September 30th – 6 days until my wedding! If I can complete a 5K, I’ll probably look damn good in that wedding dress.
Here are the deets:
- The race will be on Sunday, September 30, 2012, at Mitch Park in Edmond, at 2:00pm.
- There will be a 1-mile baby parade and a 5K Hot Mamas Run.
Let’s discuss this baby parade for a minute. How cute can you get, seriously? Babies IN. A. PARADE. A PARADE OF BABIES. Too cute. It’s an un-timed, non-competitive 1 mile walk for women and children (both boys and girls) under the age of 12. You can push a stroller, pull a wagon, carry your baby in a sling, or let them walk! Fun costume and decor contest categories include Rock the Bump (expectant moms can show off their baby bellies), Baby on Board (focus on babies in slings, carries, wraps, etc), Imagine That (costume contest), This Is How I Roll (decorate your wagon or stroller).
- Don’t feel like running, don’t have kiddos? Volunteer opportunities are available!
Yes, I know it’s the Hot Mamas Run, but that doesn’t mean it’s just for people who have actually given birth. It’s for all women! It’s actually Oklahoma’s first women ONLY 5k. This event is also a great way for girlfriends, family members, co-workers, or workout buddies to promote fitness and healthy lifestyles among women.
